JOB TITLE: Chartered Accountant – Management Accounting & Financial Analysis

Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Finance Manager / CFO
Location: Lagos, Nigeria (On-site)
Experience: 5 – 7 Years Post-Qualification (ACA/ACCA)
Employment Type: Full-time

JOB PURPOSE
To independently prepare timely, accurate Management Accounts and deliver insightful financial analysis that supports strategic decision-making by Top Management. The ideal candidate will be a business partner, not just a number cruncher – able to translate numbers into actionable business intelligence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Management Accounting & Reporting
1. Independently prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Management Accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) by 10th of the succeeding month.
2. Prepare monthly budget vs. actual variance analysis with clear commentaries on key drivers.
3. Manage month-end closing activities: accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and journal entries.
4. Maintain the Fixed Asset Register, depreciation schedule, and inventory valuation.
5. Ensure integrity of the general ledger and compliance with IFRS.

B. Financial Analysis & Decision Support
6. Provide profitability analysis by Product, Project, Department, Client, and Branch.
7. Develop financial models for pricing decisions, new projects, CAPEX, cost optimization and investment appraisal.
8. Prepare cash flow forecasts, working capital analysis, and burn rate analysis.
9. Conduct break-even analysis, margin analysis, and scenario modeling for management.
10. Present financial insights and recommendations to Top Management in clear, non-technical language.

C. Budgeting & Forecasting
11. Lead annual budgeting process and quarterly rolling forecasts in collaboration with departmental heads.
12. Monitor budget compliance and provide early warning on overruns.
13. Develop and track key financial KPIs.

D. Controls, Compliance & Audit
14. Strengthen internal controls around revenue, expenditure, and inventory.
15. Liaise with external Auditors, Tax and Management consultants, and regulatory bodies (FIRS, LIRS).
16. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements – PAYE, VAT, WHT, Pension, NSITF.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory:
– HND/B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Minimum 2:1)
– ACA or ACCA Certified – Must have completed ICAN/ACCA
– 4-7 years’ proven experience in Management Accounting & Financial Analysis (Post-NYSC)
– Proven ability to independently close management accounts without supervision
– Advanced Excel – Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Power Query, Financial Modeling
– Hands-on experience with Accounting ERPs: Sage, QuickBooks, Zoho, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics
– Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian Tax Laws, and financial regulations

Preferred / Advantage:
– Experience in Industry (e.g., Consulting, FMCG, Manufacturing, Professional Services, Tech]
– Experience working directly with CEO/CFO/MD
– Knowledge of Power BI / Tableau for dashboard reporting
– Big 4 background is an added advantage
